Jitka Baštová

In 2004-2009, she studied accordion at the Conservatory of Pardubice under Prof. Irena Holomková. During her studies she moved from a keyboard instrument to a button instrument. This custom-made Italian Pigini brand accordion is unique with its gentle and very colourful tone. After graduating from the conservatory, she was admitted to the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, where she took a master’s degree in the class of Associate Professor Boris Lenko in 2014. In 2013 she took part in an Erasmus study stay at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki (prof. Matti Rantanen).

During her studies she has participated in several competitions. One of the most valuable achievements is the third place at an International Competition in Dunajská Streda. She finished in third place at the competition of conservatories in 2007 and in the same year she took part in an International competition in the Slovak Republic.

She currently teaches at the Art and Music School in Havlíčkův Brod, where in 2008 she founded an accordion class at a branch of the school in Přibyslav. As an accordionist she gives solo concerts, but also plays in chamber music groups. Her solo repertoire consists mainly of original compositions for accordion concerts. However, she likes interpreting compositions taken from authors of earlier periods.

At first sight, her very unique and innovative collaboration with lutenist Jindřich Macek, which began in 2009, brings in completely new and colourful ideas. The benefit premiere of a jointly prepared, all-evening programme called Touches of Strings and the Magic of Bellows was heard officially on 24 July 2011 on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the shrine of St. Anna in Pohled. In 2012 was born the project La Brise de France focused on French music from different stylistic periods. The concert programme „An angel is sent by God…" is designed for and related directly to the liturgical Season of Advent (2014).

Together with Jindřich Macek she works on the projects:
